Preschool Philosophy

We believe young children should be involved in direct, hands-on experiences with people, objects, ideas, and events. Children’s intellectual, social, emotional and physical development occurs naturally when they are engaged in active learning opportunities of exploration and discovery. Adults facilitate child-initiated activities that promote investigation, decision-making, cooperation, persistence, and problem solving.

Students who attend First Class Pre-K

• are ready for kindergarten

• out-perform their peers in reading and math

• have higher attendance rates

• are less likely to repeat grades

Pre-Registration Requirements for Fort Payne Pre-K :

• Students must be four years old on or before September 1st.

• Students must live in the Fort Payne City School district.

• Students must have the online ALACEED application completed by a legal guardian and uploading the student’s birth certificate and proof of residence.

• Students must have an in-person screener that will be scheduled on the Pre-K campus.

• Students must be enrolled into PowerSchool and provide required documents listed on that site.

Pre-K Pre-registration 2026 opens January 15^th and acceptance status emails are sent April 16th-18^th!
